EB street director Assistant is a PC software with web browsing functionality which works as content management system. It has an application programming interface (API) over which the navigation devices‘ serial number and software version can be sent to an online shop in order to clearly identify the target device. The content assistant allows the user to manage, buy and activate his content. He can buy content once or he can subscribe to dynamic content and synchronize it regularly. Content is usually stored on a medium like an USB stick or SD card and can be uploaded to the device from there. For content protection a digital rights management (DRM) based solution is used .
